Russians in Belgrade

Since the war in Ukraine started in February 2022, people from Russia and Ukraine have fled from the war. A Russian couple moved to Serbia one year ago. Daria is a psychotherapist, and Stanislav works for a digital company. Since she moved to Serbia, she has dedicated her work to helping other migrants from Russia with their settlement process in Serbia. This story tells about their new life and the ups and downs this couple, as migrants, has faced living in a new country.

1st Edition of the National Competition on Media and Migration

As part of the 1st Edition of the National Competition on Media and Migration launched by #iom Morocco in November 2022, Soufiane El Hamry developed two awareness videos aimed at encouraging Moroccans, especially the Moroccan youth, to work on social inclusion and integration of migrants in Morocco by highlighting the perspectives of individuals residing in Morocco. Soufiane was awarded first place in the competition by a jury made up o of the National Migration Observatory, the Directorate of Migration Affairs, the Moroccan network of journalists on migration, the High Institute of Information and Communication, the National Press Council and the Orient-Occident Foundation.

Various migrant crises in the last decade impacted Europe, and the Balkans' route played an essential role. Journalists and media content creators were not prepared with the necessary tools and skills to report with accuracy and balance on this phenomenon. Last February 2023, in Serbia, different European generations of journalists, students and experts came together to explore ways to improve the reporting on migration from a human approach.

Cuando Kevin llegó a las vidas de Germán y Diego, una nueva ilusión nació y el significado del amor cobró aún más sentido. Unos años más tarde, el amor volvía a ser protagonista con la llegada del pequeño Seidou. La familia aumentó demostrando al mundo que no importan ni el color de la piel, ni el lugar de nacimiento, ni las complicaciones existentes en el proceso de una adopción porque, como Germán definía en esta entrevista: “tú no los adoptas, te adoptan ellos a ti” y cuando el amor es el fin, todo merece la pena.
